Fabio Prado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Fabio “Pateta” Prado is a world renowned practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) currently teaching in Vacaville CA.

Fabio is a 2nd degree Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Marcelo Clemente from the famous Gracie Ilha BJJ camp.  Since moving to the United States, Fabio has established himself as one of the foremost BJJ/grappling coaches in the country, longtime coach of UFC MMA superstar Urijah Faber and fellow Team Alpha Male/UFC teammates Chad Mendes, Joseph Benavidez, Danny Castillo and TJ Dillashaw.  Fabio instructs daily at his jiu-jitsu school, Fabio Prado BJJ, located in Vacaville, CA. Though there is no doubting Fabio’s influence on the professional athlete’s career, he is revered for his ability to coach students of all skill levels and ability.

Fabio Prado was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began practicing Brazilian Jitsu when he was 14 years old after a friend of his (Paulão) invited him to train at the Carlson Gracie academy in Copacabana – South area of Rio de Janeiro. Fabio stayed at the academy earning his blue and purple belt there, after which he decided to move to the Gracie academy at the Ilha do Governador (Gracie Ilha) an affiliate of Gracie Humaitá where his childhood friend Daniel Moraes trained.Fabio trained there under Royler Gracie’s black belt, Marcelo Clemente earning his brown and black belt by the Gracie instructor. In 2007 “Pateta” decided to try his luck in the United States, traveling through California and Hawaii coaching and fighting, before settling in Sacramento after he received an invitation to coach professional UFC fighter and MMA’s rising star Urijah Faber.  In late 2011 Fabio began his newest endeavor, opening Fabio Prado BJJ in Vacaville, CA.
